How to verify a peptide COA with the lab itself, lab by lab

How to verify a COA with the issuing lab: Janoshik verify, Freedom Diagnostics lookup, Vanguard and ILS steps, plus what a miss does and does not tell you.

By VialScore data desk

To verify a certificate of analysis (COA), do not ask the seller. Ask the lab whose name is printed on it. In our lab table, four of seven labs run a public lookup: Janoshik Analytical (the Verify tab on janoshik.com), Freedom Diagnostics Testing (Certificate of Analysis Lookup), Vanguard Laboratory (verifiedbyvanguard.com/search) and ILS Laboratories (ils-lab.com/verify). For the other three, MZ Biolabs, Ethos Analytics and Colmaric Analyticals, we found no public lookup. That was our review as of 26 October 2026.

This guide goes lab by lab: what to type, where, and what the answer means. First, the limit that applies everywhere: a lookup can show that the lab issued a report. It cannot show that the vial in front of you is what the report describes.

What a lookup can and cannot prove

A match on the lab’s own page tells you two things at most: the lab has a record under that identifier, and the details of that record (name, date, results) can be compared with your PDF.

It does not tell you that the powder in your vial is the sample that was tested. ILS Laboratories says so on its own COAs: sample names, lot numbers and labelled content are supplied by the submitter and not independently verified. So a lookup answers “is this paper real?”, not “is this product the one on the paper?”. The second question is about batch numbers and labels, and we cover the difference in what a “≥98% purity” claim means.

The one rule: type the address yourself

Whatever arrives with a report (a link, a QR code, a “verify here” button) can have been added by whoever forwarded the PDF. A QR code can point anywhere. The safe order is:

  1. Read the lab’s name from the report.
  2. Type that lab’s address into your browser yourself.
  3. Copy only the identifier from the PDF (report number, accession number or access code) into the lab’s own page.

Our Vanguard entry carries the same warning. The reason is a 2026 public statement by that lab: a COA carrying its name, which CBS News examined, was not issued by it. Only the lab’s own page can settle whether a report is genuine.

Lab by lab

Janoshik Analytical. Open janoshik.com yourself and use the Verify tab in the menu. Many reports are also listed in the lab’s public test database at public.janoshik.com. Reports carry a QR code too, but under the rule above, use the tab.

Freedom Diagnostics Testing. On freedomdiagnosticstesting.com, open the Certificate of Analysis Lookup and search by the accession number and search code printed on the COA. A company-name search is also offered. Compare what comes back with your PDF line by line.

Vanguard Laboratory. Type verifiedbyvanguard.com/search into the address bar and search by report number, product, batch or the organisation printed on the certificate. A match confirms the lab issued the report. If there is no match, raise it with the lab directly.

ILS Laboratories. Go to ils-lab.com/verify and enter the access code: 7 or 8 letters and numbers, printed under the QR code in the top-right header and repeated in the footer. No login is needed. Typing the code is enough, so there is no reason to scan anything.

Labs with no public lookup found

For MZ Biolabs, Ethos Analytics and Colmaric Analyticals our data holds a “none found”, which is not the same as “none exists”. Use the contact details on the lab’s own website, give the report identifier and test date, and ask whether it can confirm the report. Two notes from our table: Colmaric is a general contract lab and not peptide-specific, and Ethos Analytics should not be confused with similarly named peptide sellers.

When the lookup returns nothing

Work through this before drawing any conclusion:

  1. Check every character against the PDF. Codes mix letters and digits, so check you are using the right field: report number, accession number and access code are different things.
  2. Retype the lab’s address and confirm it is the lab named on the report, not a similar name.
  3. Try the other search fields the lab offers (product, batch or organisation at Vanguard; company name at Freedom Diagnostics).
  4. Try again later in case of a temporary site problem.
  5. Write to the lab using contact details from its own website. Keep the shop out of that exchange.

A miss means only that this lookup, today, with this input, returned nothing. A typo, a lab that lists only part of its reports (Janoshik’s public database lists “many”, not all) or the wrong lab produce the same screen. It is not a verdict on the shop. It is also not a confirmation, so regard the report as unconfirmed until the lab answers.

What to ask the shop as well

For Nexo Research, Europa-Peptide and Peptid24, our data shows public COAs and lab testing as “not stated”. With no lab named, there is nothing to look up yet, so the questions come first:

  • Which lab produced the report?
  • What is the report number, accession number or access code?
  • Does the batch number on the report match the one printed on the vial label?
  • What is the test date, and which methods were run?

Once you have a lab name and an identifier, run the lookup as above. You can see what each shop currently states on its page: Nexo Research, Europa-Peptide and Peptid24, or side by side on our comparison page.
